The translucent panels are made from reclaimed Heart Pine beams that were 400 to 500 yrs old when felled over 100 yrs ago . The high resin content required to allow light to pass through is very rare. Only one of every 40 or so beams will yield a wood suitable for this purpose.
The woods used in the frames of these luminaries are walnut and cherry both of which
provide a pleasing contrast to the heart pine panels.
